- 0.75" thick pine wood: 4 quantity at 11" (L) x 2.5" (W)
- 0.75" x 0.75" thick poplar wood for inside support rails (2" Long)
- Drill/Electric screwdriver, drill bit, screws, countersink
- Wood glue
- Tape Measure
- Miter saw
- Paint, paint roller
DIY (Do It Yourself) by following these steps:
- Cut pine wood to size using tape measure and miter saw (make 45 degree cuts)
- Drill / Countersink holes in support rails to accommodate screws
- Glue the four sides of pine wood together to form the "base"
- Glue/Screw support rails to the inside of the "base"
- Paint the "base" with paint roller and let dry overnight
- Take pedestal box made from last week's blog entry and flip over so bottom is facing up
- Insert the "base" into bottom of pedestal box and use screws to secure it
- Flip the pedestal box over and rest it on the newly installed "base"
BAM! Simple way to add a base!
This is part 2 of making a pedestal display stand. The wood for the base is cheap ($2.50 US dollars), but it makes a big impact. Not only does it provide firm footing, it raises the pedestal higher for better viewing. Check in again next week for more upgrades to the pedestal stand.
