STAR WARS LEIA AND R2-D2 STATUE DISPLAY PEDESTAL STAND DIY (PART 6 - LIGHT TOPPER)
More photos and DIY details after the Jump!
GEEK this look with the following materials:
- 0.50" thick plywood (1.5" x 11" - 2 Qty.)
- 0.50" thick plywood (1.5" x 12" - 2 Qty.)
- Plywood for inside support rails (1" long)
- 0.25" thick plywood sheet for top (11" x 11")
- 0.25" thick translucent acrylic sheet for bottom (11" x 11")
- Puck light
- Wood Glue
- Tape measure
- Pedestal stand from previous weeks blog entries
DIY (Do It Yourself) by following these steps:
- Assemble topper sides together using glue
- Glue inside support rails (leave room to fit top plywood sheet)
- Place acrylic sheet on top of display case pedestal stand
- Then place topper assembly and puck light on top of acrylic sheet
- Finally place plywood sheet to cover topper
BAM! Lighted topper for display case!
For part 6 of tricking out the pedestal stand, "down lighting" was added. More than one puck light can be used depending how bright you want it. The translucent acrylic sheet is also optional, depending if you want to diffuse the light or not. Since topper is not load bearing, using wood glue is enough.
