BAM! Pedestal Display Stand!
This pedestal stand has a piece of flat wood mounted on the top to serve two purposes - to elevate the statue and to provide a place for an acrylic display cover (see my other posts). The back has an opening to store other things (giving this stand dual purpose). Any wood type can be used and you can construct to your required size and specifications.

Hello!!!! I'm very desperately in need of someone with your skills/experience to assist in helping me brainstorm for a DIY project. I'm currently a collector of an Anime statue company called Tsume-Art. Their beginning statues I was able to fit within IKEA's Detolf but the latest statues they've released are much larger and I would like to properly display them.
ReplyDeleteBelow is a link to a collector in Singapore blogger who posted a review and towards the end he shares details on the custom pedestal display cases he had made, http://www.alwaysremember.club/review-tsume-hqs-zoro-roronoa/
Here's also a picture of the companies official display cases they use, https://www.facebook.com/tsumeart/photos/pcb.1398896420136212/1398896383469549/?type=3&theater
I was wondering if you would be willing to help me brainstorm on how to make cases like this happen. I've been following your blog for a while now and if there's anyone I know who could help me dissect how to make these happen it's you. Thank you!

Hi Brian, Those display cases in your link will probably require lots of work and will not be an easy DIY. The materials alone will also be expensive. You would need wood for the pedestal box, wood to hold the back display glass, wood for the top LED light, very thick glass, glass door hinges/hardware, silicone to join the glass, LED lights, many coats of paint, etc. My DIY items are more focused on projects that are fairly simple and does not require high skill levels. However, you can always view this Forum to get some ideas (How to display your collectibles): http://www.sideshowcollectors.com/forums/forum55/
