GEEK this look with the following materials:
- Quarter (1/4) scale Deadpool statue
- Table stand
- 0.25” thick Acrylic sheets
- Acrylic solvent cement
- Needle-nozzled applicator bottle
- Table saw and high speed blade with at least 5 teeth per inch (25mm)
- Sandpaper with sanding block (or a router if you want to be fancy)
- Tape measure
- Pencil
DIY (Do It Yourself) by following these steps:
- Use tape measure and pencil to mark your cut sizes on Acrylic sheet
- Cut Acrylic sheets into 5 pieces using table saw
- Sand the edges (be careful not to round the edges)
- Fill applicator bottle with solvent cement
- Assemble by first placing an acrylic piece flat on a table
- Vertically stand another piece on top (flush along the left side edge)
- Apply cement along the entire inside joint and hold a few seconds
- Let the joint dry 10-30 minutes (Max bond strength > 24 hours)
- Repeat for right side edge to get 3-joined pieces
- Place the fourth acrylic piece flat on the table
- Invert the 3-joined pieces and place on top of the fourth piece
- Align the edges, apply cement along joints, and let dry
- Place the fifth (and final) acrylic piece flat on the table
- Place the 4-joined pieces on top of the fifth piece
- Align the edges, apply cement along all four joints, and let dry
BAM! Acrylic Display Case!
This cool DIY is in honor of the new Deadpool movie that just came out. Protect the statue inside a dust-proof clear acrylic display case. Tip: Practice using the solvent cement on scrape plastic pieces until you get use to it. If you don't have a table saw, you can always have a plastic store cut Acrylic to your size specifications.
